Walrus Audio present the Kangra: a filter fuzz pedal designed in collaboration with SNL guitarist, Jared Scharff, and finished with awesome artwork by Adam Forster - inspired by the impressive journey that Jared made to the Kangra Valley near the Himalayas. This guitar pedal is best described as a mix between classic Kay Fuzz Tone and an MPC 3000-style low-pass filter, but if you prefer a dirty edge to your solos, all you have to do is throw the Kangra Filter Fuzz into Vintage mode. The Modern mode, on the other hand, gives you longer sustain, a little more tonal tightness and a little less attitude, all of which helps to add presence to the octave effect.
The Kangra: Psychedelic, Funky or Simply Shocking?
It's only when you pull up the filter section that you can start unleashing truly ground-shaking effects. Using the four control knobs, this psychedelic filter can drastically change up the aforementioned fuzz sounds, allowing you to effortlessly step into various styles like rock, funk and even pop. The Mid switch offers either a nicely balanced mid-range or an obvious mid-range scoop, and both effects can used independently if preferred. This means the low-pass filter inside this attention-grabber of a pedal can render your cleans as captivating or funky as you want.

Handig, twee pedalen in 1! De fuzz geeft o.a. het bekende "Satisfaction" geluid en met het envelope filter waan je je bijna Jerry Garcia. Combineer je beide effecten dan is het helemaal feest.
Het envelope filter werkt ook fijn met andere pedalen. En tot mijn verbazing doet deze fuzz het ook prima wanneer je hem niet als eerste pedaal achter de gitaar plaatst.
Maar Bax, wel beter inpakken volgende keer. Het pedaal heeft weliswaar zijn eigen doosje, maar dat zat zonder enig verpakkingsmateriaal in een grotere doos waarin het vrij kon rondschuiven. Dat heb ik wel eens beter gezien bij jullie!
Super gevarieerd pedaal!
De Fuzz is dik en stroperig, en met de filter kun je hem zo vormen als je wilt. Op de lage snaren echt een soort gated fuzz, hogerop gaat hij zingen als een octave fuzz. Intervallen tussen meerdere noten zorgen voor heel interessante sounds. Ik heb het een en ander aan fuzz geprobeerd, maar dit is de krachtigste en meest bruikbare die ik ooit gehoord heb. De filter kun je met de envelope gebruiken op de manier van John Mayer (I dont trust myself). Zonder envelope kun je meer uit je clean sound halen, of je drive sound als een soort Wah in een vaste positie laten klinken (Boston of Brian May van Queen). Super mooi design, en een aantal leuke verrassingen in de verpakking, maar daar moet je zelf maar achter komen. Dit is zeker niet mijn laatste Walrus Audio pedaal!

Very interesting pedal - fuzz works well with my strat and humbucker guitars. Works best with single notes (although power chords and major chords sound OK too, everything else not so much). Filter is very cool, and nice that it can be used independently of the fuzz. Solid construction, overall I'm enjoying this pedal very much!
